Philosophy

Updated: Aug 4

It is the man (or woman) in the arena that matters.

Get in the Arena.

Scar tissue is the best teacher.

Wear Muddy Boots.

Make it safe to name the elephant, especially if you’re the elephant.

The better the talent, the better the outcomes, the better the income.

Hire talent and let it run.

Hire slow, fire fast.

Officers eat last.

Leaders talk last.

Leaders coach.

Listen with an open heart and intention.

Wander and listen.

Two questions: how are you? What can we do better?

Be curious.

To get from A to B, you need to know what B looks like.

Radar is the ability to look ahead, see opportunities or threats, and react.

Practice Radar.

Never be low price, but always be low cost.

Find the pain and fix it.

Honest feedback is kinder than smoke.

If it’s good, it’s the team, if not it’s yours.

It is always darkest before it turns black, but the sun will come up.

Appreciate the light.

The intentional use of time is a great gift.

Make time. Is this your time?

The most important time is think time.

Balance, life is short.

Your voice and your vote matter.

It is about long-term value creation.

It is about values as a North Star.

Have a North Star and share it.

It is a big boat.

Share the numbers, Share the wealth, and get to one.

Create opportunities for people.

Coach.

Preach the gospel and sometimes use words.

If it was your last minute of earth, who would you call?

Call them...

If you say thank you, mean it.

We come from dust, and we return to dust.

Legacy matters.

Fishing is not about the fish.

Have a dog.

Stay busy, curious, and humble.

Give back.

Stand for freedom and justice.

Grandchildren over Greed.
